Engaging Londoners in planning: are neighbourhood forums the answer?

Neighbourhood planning, introduced through the Localism Act 2011, is the right for communities to form groups and produce 'Neighbourhood Plans'. In London there are more than 100 Neighbourhood Forums at different stages – some have developed a plan while others are in the process of doing so.

NYLON: Regional planning in New York and London

In 2017, New York’s Regional Plan Association (RPA) released its Fourth Regional Plan, looking at the Tri-State metropolitan area in its totality. In the same year, the Mayor of London released the draft New London Plan for Greater London, which addresses but does not resolve London’s relationship with its neighbouring counties. Is it time we think more strategically across the London boundary as has our New York counterpart?
