As part of the series exploring factory-made homes, Waugh Thistleton, experts in designing with Cross Laminated Timber, guide a tour of Hackney - the CLT capital of London.
The London Borough of Hackney has a commitment to reducing carbon emissions associated with new developments within the borough. This focus has led to the construction of several high quality, innovative low carbon buildings using a variety of sustainable materials in Hackney. It is the council’s continuing ambition to encourage developers to justify their choice of structural materials at planning application stage and drive innovation in this field, focusing on reducing the carbon footprint of a building through construction and the embodied carbon in the structural materials themselves.
This tour will take in 4 of Waugh Thistleton Architect’s timber buildings, all of which are constructed using cross laminated timber.
This event is part of NLA’s year-long Housing Programme, covering key issues such as affordable housing, public sector land, the private rented sector, off-site manufacture, the appropriate densification of housing and how we enable small developers and custom builders.
