Following the NLA International Dialogue with Sydney earlier this year, we delve further into the growth of these cities and examine their Olympic Games legacies.

As the final stages of London’s Olympic legacy plan are realised, and Sydney reinvents their Olympics site 20 years on, we take this opportunity to reflect on how the Olympics have impacted growth in Sydney and London, with a particular focus on high density development. How are both cities developing liveable neighbourhoods across Olympic sites?

This event forms a key part of the NLA International Dialogues programme, which brings together speakers and audiences to foster cross-city dialogue and learning between cities.

Speakers include:
Irene Man, Director of Planning, London Legacy Development Corporation
Peter Murray, Chairman, New London Architecture

London and Sydney: polycentric cities

According to the Sydney Plan, a “30-minute city” is one where, no matter where you live, you can easily access the places you need to visit on a daily basis. As Sydney and London evolve as polycentric cities, how are we addressing liveability? Are we successfully creating 30-minute cities? How are both cities planning for rapid growth and addressing key issues such as housing delivery and transport provision?
