Inflatable Architecture

Tuesday 18 June 2019

Responding to this year’s London Festival Architecture theme of boundaries NLA’s 8-12yrs Saturday Club made blow-up architecture in one day working with volunteers from collective Scale Rule.

Using giant sheets of recyclable plastic architects and engineers from Scale Rule’s team helped a group of 14 children create nets that were than inflated using table fans!

As the pictures above show, the results were quite extraordinary helping participants to understand more about the design process and see their imaginary spaces turned into reality. After all their hard work the kids ended the afternoon by exploring the interior of their new creations!
