New London Quarterly was crowned magazine of the year in the non-weekly category by the IBP at a ceremony in London last week - for the second year running.
The NLA’s magazine, edited by David Taylor, beat a strong shortlist of New Civil Engineer, Planning in London, Social Housing, The Architects’ Journal and The Architectural Review, making it the second time in a row NLQ has won the honour and third time overall.
Judges praised the ‘weighty’ magazine for its wide range of subject matter and mixture of long features and brevity. ‘The magazine combines that range with extremely good design which itself makes the articles easy to read’, said the citation. ‘Yes, there is a strong commercial content in the editorial, but the mistake would be to think it was a pretty magazine to leave on display in receptions rather than a publication to read.’
