Over 300 visitors descended on NLA this weekend to get involved in a special programme of talks, family workshops and exhibitions as part of Open House 2017.
Visitors from across London took to the streets for this year’s festival, the biggest yet, with over 800 buildings open for tours, talks and walks. Nestled between the BT Tower and The British Museum, NLA proved again to be a popular stopping point for those eager to learn more about the capital’s architecture and development.
Our giant model of central London showing over 170,000 built and proposed buildings was, as always, the star attraction, with a series of model talks offered by our own Peter Murray giving visitors an extra special insight into the history and future of London’s built environment.
In our workshop zone, families let their children become architects for the day, working together to design their ideal homes, furniture and gardens, with some very interesting results !
The weekend forms part of NLA’s growing programme of year-round public events, including breakfast talks, lunchtime talks, walking tours, family workshops and exhibitions. We’re very excited to now also offer free model talks every Friday at 12:30, giving visitors an introduction to the New London Model and an overview of London’s development.
Drop in and find out what’s happening in your city!
A special thanks to all our Open House volunteers for their time and dedication to help make the weekend such a success.
